How GoodDayTo judges outdoor photography weather
Photography is different from most weather activities because cloud, mist and changing light can be creatively useful. GoodDayTo therefore does not reward blue sky by default. It mainly asks whether the weather is practical for spending time outside with a camera and whether wind or rain could make the session awkward.

Why the model does not chase sunshine
A bright cloudless day is not automatically better for photography. Overcast conditions can soften shadows, and changing cloud can create more interesting light. Because creative preference varies, the score stays neutral on cloud and focuses instead on rain, wind and uncomfortable exposure.
Daylight, golden hour and night photography
The activity is intentionally flexible across the day. GoodDayTo does not suppress evening or night photography the way it suppresses golf or lawn mowing. It still applies a modest late-night cap because access, lighting and personal safety vary, but a dry calm evening can remain a good result.
What the photography score cannot know
The app cannot predict photographic light quality, sunrise colour, visibility distance, fog composition, wildlife, event access or whether your equipment is weather sealed. It also cannot know if wind matters to your specific subject. Use the score to judge practical outdoor conditions, then make the creative decision yourself.
What the score means
GO means the weather factors GoodDayTo measures look favourable for this activity. WAIT means conditions are mixed or a better upcoming window is available. NOT TODAY means the forecast currently contains enough unfavourable signals that this is a poor weather choice. These are planning recommendations, not guarantees or safety clearances.

Does cloud reduce the photography score?
Not by itself. Cloud can be creatively useful, so the model does not assume clear sky is better for photography.
Why does wind matter?

Yes. Photography is one of the more time-flexible activities, so dry calm evening conditions can still score strongly.

Does GO mean my camera is protected from weather?
