Why the score focuses on your outdoor conditions
The model rewards comfortable apparent temperature, lower rain risk and lighter wind. Stronger gusts can make observation from exposed hides, wetlands or open fields uncomfortable and can affect binocular or long-lens stability. Cloud is not treated as a problem by itself because overcast skies can still be excellent for observation.
Nearby nature context without pretending to know sightings
GoodDayTo can look for mapped nature reserves, bird hides and wetlands near the searched location. This is only a practical location hint. It does not know what species are present today, whether migration is active, whether a hide is open or whether a reserve requires a permit.
What the birdwatching score cannot know
The app cannot predict bird abundance, migration timing, feeding activity, water level, habitat condition or local disturbances. It also cannot replace site rules, wildlife protections or your own route planning. Use the score to choose a comfortable weather window, not to predict a successful sighting.
What the score means
GO means the weather factors GoodDayTo measures look favourable for this activity. WAIT means conditions are mixed or another upcoming window looks better. NOT TODAY means the forecast currently contains enough unfavourable weather signals that this is a poor choice. These are planning recommendations, not guarantees or safety clearances.

Does a high score mean I will see more birds?
No. The score only evaluates weather comfort and practicality for the person outdoors. It does not predict sightings or species activity.
Does GoodDayTo find bird hides nearby?
Where OpenStreetMap data is available, the nearby check can look for bird hides, nature reserves and wetlands. It cannot confirm opening hours or access.
Why does wind lower the score?
Strong wind can make exposed observation uncomfortable and can make binoculars, scopes or long lenses harder to steady.
Does cloud make birdwatching worse?
Not necessarily. Cloud alone is not heavily penalised because many birdwatching sessions work well under overcast skies.
Does GO mean a reserve or trail is safe and open?
No. Access, closures, flooding, trail condition and local wildlife rules are separate checks.
